BOn Appetite' - a business venture by Grade 10 IGCSE
Our Planning And process to the final outcome and to the venture...
My reflection
This was a canteen project set-up by us Grade 10 IGCSE Enterprise students; which was a part of our Enterprise Assignment to run a business. Being inexperienced Entrepreneurs we had to plan a business that would run successfully and would meet and complete the objectives given for the Enterprise Assignment. According to students’ preferences and checking and calculating the nutritional value, health and hygiene factor we planned the menu. People criticised a lot which made us realise the lack of planning in certain areas we hadn’t thought of. We later went on purchasing ingredients and required materials for the setup weekly or daily and learnt how to bargain and buy stuff at right price and quantity. One major risk we took was the competition of 4 more canteen downstairs who were popular and experienced. We also faced difficulty in negotiating with our group mates. Also we had to reject and remake our posters and banners several times. I mainly played a role as a Cashier and an Accountant who managed the daily expenses and incomes and also handled the cash. I mainly faced difficulty with the no. of plates sold didn’t equal the tallied no. of plates sold. I and my Partner Jheel also had problem handling many people at a time where we used to get confused on whom to give which token and whom to give what change? This was because I handled the tokens and he handled cash and we both used them at the same time. This was an enjoyable experience taught me a lot for how to run a successful business and what to take care of before and while running.
